FILIPINO VOLLEYBALL ATHLETES WARMED UP MONTREAL’s FIRST FALL OF WINTER SNOW – by Mara Cao

Winter is here in Canada ! Despite the coolness of our  weather , people in Montreal at Cote Des Neiges area made it  hot!

Filipino  meet the first fall of snow feel so warm with the opening of 1st Annual Filipino Canadian Volleyball Association of Montreal (FCVAM) Winter Volleyball League 2014-2015. Today,, Nov. 16, 20114,  4 pm ,  at  4410  Westhill,  Monkland  Montreal Gym  starts the grand opening of  the first Winter Volleyball  Tournament  among Filipino community  here in  the City. The opening ceremony event was indeed a blast! The gym  was filled with energy & joy from the  crowd  especially  from  the  players and their respective managers.  Joining the ceremony  was  Hon. Mayor Russell Copeman , mayor of Cote Des Neiges and Notre Dame de Grace Borough  as the guest speaker and did the ribbon cutting assisted by  the President of Federation of Filipino Canadian Association of Quebec , Ms. Josefa Nicolas  and President of FCVAM Ms. Mercy Sia.  All of the officers are present to support!

Winter Volleyball  tournament  was  participated  by  4 Teams for  Men’s Category (Alphabetical Order)

They competition  begin  today. 1st game  men’s team Annabelle  won  against  Hit-Men by  2 sets  scored  (25/17 & 28/26)

2nd  game  women Aces  and  Spikes  won vs Sunlife  Warriors  by 2 sets scored ( 25/18 & 25/18)

3rd game women’s Brave Hearts vs Marche Filipino

They will compete for the championship  starting today, from November 2014, till  February 2015  every Sunday at  4p.m  in the same gym  at Monkland  Westhill.

Congratulations!  to all the Athletes, officers and organizers  of this winter games that make it happen here in Montreal for  sports minded Filipino Canadians  that will add life  to the winter season in the part of Canada.
