FAMAS APPRECIATION AND GALA NIGHT 2019

A Tribute and Recognition of the newly elected Board of Directors and Executive Officers of the Filipino Association of Montreal and Suburbs (FAMAS) successfully been conducted at the Hellenic Community Center , Wilderton, Montreal, Quebec on the night of November 9, 2019. More than four hundred people witnessed the formal presentation to public of the newly elected administrator.

The occasion was graced by Mr. Alan Deniego , the new Consul General of the Philippine Embassy Ottawa . Among the guest who gave their messages and expressions of support to the organization was the very supportive City Councillor Marvin Rotrand of Snowdon District and the Official Opposition Leader and City Councillor Lionel Perez of Darlington District. Kim Manning , a Professor of Concordia and Mrs. Jacky Rotrand were there interacting with the Filipino community along side with former officers and advisers of the said organization filled the hall of the venue.

Candle lighting for those former Presidents who had departed was solemnly done by Ms. Julie Parado, FAMAS President 1985- 1986. Introducing the newly elected officers were full of well wishers sound from the crowd. New members of the Board of Trustees and the untiring volunteers Mr. Bert Abiera – FAMAS Pres. 1986- 1987 and Mr. Elmer Manila were among those who constantly shared their time and patiently stay in the community center to answer and give guidance and information to people, was recognized too. Mr. Cesar Manuel , the newly elected President in his welcome remarks calls every Filipinos in the community to participate and support the organization, aiming for unity under his administration promising to work and do their best, a big challenge which is being supported by his fellow BODs to bring change for progress in catering to the needs of members of the organization and the community.

The night was also full of entertainment with music and dances that made guests sweat and burn calories from the sumptuous food served. After dinner served the Commissioned Board of Election Chairman Pastor Glenn Opendo together with his Committee Members facilitated in the distribution of certificates of appreciation to volunteers who served during election of the said organization.

The night ended with thanks and acknowledgement to all those who came and show support to the organization by the newly elected very active Vice President of Internal Affair- Ms. Svetlana Suarez.
