Job Outlook – 37,500 job vacancies in the region of Chaudière-Appalaches 2017

THETFORD MINES, QC , July 22. 2014 / CNW Telbec / – On behalf of the Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity, Mr. François Blais, Minister responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches and Tourism Minister M me Dominique Vien , announced today ‘ Today the 2013-2017 employment opportunities for the region of Chaudière-Appalaches, which indicate that employment opportunities are favorable for the coming years, particularly for young people, while 37,500 jobs will be available.

“Those who wish to enter the labor market over the next few years can have confidence in the future they will have access to meaningful employment opportunities in the region,” said Minister Vien.

“Young people must address the labor market with optimism because the job prospects are favorable in all regions of Quebec for the coming years. The number of jobs should also reach a record high during the next decade. Significant wealth creation projects that put the government of Quebec, such as the Maritime Strategy and the revival of the Plan Nord, let us hope that we will exceed these expectations. In this context, it is even more important that each person has adequate training to its ambitions and consistent with the needs of employers. We will continue our efforts to ensure a better match between available workers and businesses, “said Minister Blais.

National employment prospects

Note that, according to Emploi-Québec, nearly 725,400 jobs will be available in Quebec between 2013 and 2017 andmore than half (53%) of them will be filled by young people under 25 who are not yet in the labor market. For the 2013-2022 period, the number of positions that will be filled, with 58% youth is estimated at 1,358,500.

The proportion of Quebecers aged 15 to 64 who are employed (the employment rate) is expected to exceed the last recorded to 74.4% in the top 2017 and 76.1% in 2022.

From 2013 to 2022, employment will rise in most of the 33 industries. Growth will focus on the services side where the strongest job creation will be in the health care and social assistance, retail trade, and professional, scientific and technical services. In the area of ​​production of goods, job creation will especially benefit the manufacturing industry of transport equipment, manufacture of food and beverages as well as the mining industry.

During the years 2013 to 2022, some 1.1 million people in Quebec are expected to retire and be replaced. This ten-year period, 20% of the needs of labor hire workers require professional level, usually requiring university education.In addition, nearly a third of vacancies require the technical level, while 28% of jobs require a high school diploma or a short training.
