Rainy season starts in the Philippines

EL SALVADOR CITY, MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Philippines (June 22, 2014) — Monsoon rains and flashfloods will be inevitable again as the rainy season has officially started on June 10, 2014 across the more than 7,100 islands Philippines.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) here, has announced the start of the rainy season which will be until September, 2014.

PAGASA El Salvador Station Weather Forecaster Mario Guya said the start of rainy season is also expected to be windy, and these winds that will bring rains would be coming from the Indian Ocean.

However, PAGASA said the country would be experiencing the El Nino phenomenon at the same time with the rainy season, an unusual weather condition. But Guya said the farmers need not to worry about the heat to be brought by the El Nino because the rainy season will provide the balance. (LOR VILLA ENCENZO)
